Looking for social investment?

Find out more about how to access social investment and whether it’s right for you

If you’re a charity or social enterprise looking for social investment, find out more about the tools and information that will help you make informed decisions.

Access works with a range of social investors to distribute funds, we don’t fund charities and social enterprises directly.

What is social investment?

Social investment is the use of repayable finance to help an organisation achieve a social purpose.

Charities and social enterprises can use repayable finance to help them increase their impact on society, for example by growing their business, providing working capital for contract delivery, or buying assets. It can sit alongside grants, donations and other forms of funding as a tool in your financial toolkit.

Unlike a grant or donation, it's paid back, often with interest.  What makes this different from other investments is that investors are dedicated to supporting the organisations they invest in, to accomplish positive social outcomes.

Good Finance is a collaborative project to help improve access to information on social investment for charities and social enterprises.

They exist to improve knowledge and understanding of social investment, to support organisations to make informed decisions based on their circumstances and to connect individuals to the right investors to speak to based on shared values.

Good Finance is jointly funded by Access, Better Society Capital and DCMS, with in-kind support provided by members of the steering group.
